Workflow

Digitize, Develop, Behold

A comprehensive global workflow provides the framework for sustainable large-scale digitization. For each project a customized workflow is developed according to material type and client specifications. Workflow controls logical processes as well as physical movement of materials.

Mission Critical

Robust
Designed for high-volume processing of dozens of projects and 1,000s of jobs concurrently.
Scalable
Scanners, computers, and staff may be added to scale to meet volume and schedule requirements.
Custom
Unique client requirements are easily met by customizing existing features or adding new features developed by our software engineers.
Integral
Custom interfaces to 3rd-party software leverage the best features of all systems to provide a seamless and efficient operating environment.
Accurate
Materials are tracked from check-in to checkout ensuring 100% digitization of every material in their exact original sequence.

Quality Control

Validation of specifications is the singular goal of quality control processes throughout a workflow.

A detailed holds process is designed to not only resolve quality issues but also provide metrics and feedback to for continual process improvement.

Holds are described by:

  • Issue (what is the problem?)
  • Task (where did it occur?)
  • Reason (why did it occur?)

The quality control operator or a supervisor will determine resolution:

  • Action (How to resolve?)
  • Next Task (Where to resolve in the workflow?)

Metrics

Every task is measured and reportable in real-time. Metrics are not just an “after-action” recap, but a constant numerical feedback, facilitating quick resolution of anomalies and improved efficiency.

Tasks are listed in workflow sequence except for Holds and Inserts (loose materials within the front or back cover of a book). Ready, Closed, and Tiled are system tasks related to OCR and final digital delivery. The count of Jobs (books) and Images (pages) are listed for each task, divided into book scanner type – ScanRobot (automatic page turning) and Bookeye (planetary).

Scanner metrics provide a quick snapshot of input volume by scanner and operator. Average Images generally indicates book size and provides insight to productivity as each book requires setup time. F/O indicates the count of foldouts, which will also impact productivity.
